Clover is a cutie pie ditz, and one of the sweetest most sincere girls you'll ever meet. She loves going adventuring with her friends, but isn't really aware of her environment a lot of the time, leading to plenty of accidents.

Mariette is the youngest of her friends, but she's a natural fusser so she treated as the mama of the group. She's always making sure everyone ate, slept well, and isn't sick or stressed out about anything. Some of her friends pretend they don't like it, but really Mariette is the only one who does fuss since their parents are busy, so they secretly enjoy the attention.
(In her reference the slightly darker part was a mistake by me made while coloring, however I've decided to make into a real scar so I'd appreciate if people could draw one on the bridge of her nose.)

Clover's Story
The worst accident was a time when she and her friends were exploring a junk yard. Clover wasn't looking, and stepped on a loose piece. She instantly went over the edge of the pile they were on, falling headfirst towards a light pole. She thought that she was going to die, but Mariette caught her at the last second. But Mariette couldn't carry both of them, so they ended up falling on different debris. Clovers back was torn up on broken glass, she doesn't mind though. What she does mind is that Mariette was hurt as well, with a scar on her face, many on her shoulders, and some on her calves as well. Clover feels guilt whenever she sees the scars because she feels that it's her fault for falling.
She still zones out sometimes, but lately Clover has been trying to be more aware of her surroundings.
Currently Clover is trying to make it up to Mariette by studying as hard as she can in school. While school isn't considered very important, ability to surive in the wastelands is much more important than the ability to do math, or know history which is Clovers' forte. But Mariette used to talk about how she would like to know more about the world, so Clover is hoping that by learning more she'll be able to make up for hurting Mariette, and maybe even deserve her love again.
Fall term is approaching fast and Clover has decided that the best thing to do would be to go to the best school in their district. This means passing her placement tests this week with more than 90 in every single area, so she's really cracking down on studying. Unfortunately for Clover, Mariette doesn't understand at all! She's been coming around to see if Clover can play almost every day now, and though the answer is always the same, a no, she keeps coming back. And Clover doesn't know how to speak to Mariette without messing up anymore, so it's Clovers older sister who's been saying no. Clover is pretty worried though, Mariette hasn't come the past two days, and while it was worrying with her visiting every day, the absence is really noticeable. Clover's worried she may have made the wrong choice, but it's too late for her to back down now and admit it. So she just continues studying.
She passed! Clover passed! It was very close but the boy who beat her in the testing, 5th place, was pulled by his parents so Clover received his prize and got to go to the college! Right now she's in a frenzy of packing, since the college has dorms people live in. The only sad thing is that the college will come to get her early, early, early the next morning so she won't have time to say good-bye to Mariette. But Clover thinks it's okay, because she doesn't want to see Mariette and see how her clumsiness hurt her best friend. Besides, Clover is pretty sure that Mariette doesn't like her anymore. After all, if she hadn't done that, Mariette never would have been hurt.
This was written by so sugoii on gaia. It's a really cool songfic about Clover after the junkyard accident. And it's just perfect because Clover has seriously bad nightmares, she just pretends she doesn't.
They say an end can be a start
Feels like I've been buried yet I'm still alive
It's like a bad day that never ends
I feel the chaos around me
She couldn’t sleep.
At least not for very long.
Memories of the accident haunted in her dreams – if she could even consider them dreams. They more like hellish nightmares. Every time she closed her eyes, she was falling again. It felt so real, too. Her hands flailed uselessly, trying to grasp anything to stop from falling.
A thing I don't try to deny
I'd better learn to accept that
There are things in my life I can't control
As she accepted the fact she was going to die, a hand grasped hers. She knew this hand. It saved her many times before. When she was afraid of walking in the dark, this hand was in hers. When she tripped on air and she was about to fall, this hand caught her. Many times this hand was there for her. She knew this hand very well.
“Clover!”
Now I know that a breeze can blow me away
Now I know there's much more dignity
In defeat than in the brightest victory
I'm losing my balance on the tight rope
It was Mariette. Mariette’s hand was holding hers – trying to save her. Fresh tears welled in her bright blue, innocent eyes. The worst part of the dream was coming. She cried for Mariette to let go. To let her go. Her best friend didn’t listen though. They both started falling now, fast.
Hang on to the good days
I can lean on my friends
They help me going through hard times
Everything was a blur. A blur of assorted colors. Hot tears raced down her face. Why did she have to be so clumsy? Sharp glass dug deep into her tender flesh as if punishing her for being so foolish. The pain was unbearable. Turning her head with the little strength she had, Clover saw Mariette beside her. Blood tainted her clothes. Was she dead? No, she couldn’t be… She can’t be…
“Mariette!” Clover cried out, bolting upright despite the protest of her sore, barely healed body. Her golden hair clung to her forehead thanks to the thin sheen of sweat. Panting heavily, Clover glanced around her bedroom.
Now I've watched all my castles fall
They were made of dust, after all
Someday all this mess will make me laugh
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait...
She swallowed hard.
“Mariette… Oh, Mariette…” Clover cried softly, her soft blue, bunny ears dropping down in defeat. Her reddish, swollen eyes drifted to the photograph of Mariette and her. They were both standing beside each in a sort of hug.
Mariette wasn’t dead. Even so, Clover couldn’t seem to get over the accident. As she stared at the photograph of Mariette, she studied the details of her best friend. There was no scar on her face, more so specifically on the bridge of her nose. It was her fault Mariette had those ugly scars on her body.
It was her fault she had a big, ugly scar on her back.
It was all her fault.
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it's all over I'll let you know
“Please, forgive me…” Clover murmured to the photograph of her best friend.
The sandman must have pitied her because she soon fell asleep with the photograph pressed against her chest.

Mariette's Story
Her best friend ever is Clover. Together they'll go around and check up on people, or just play together. They've been friends forever and are rarely found apart.
Mariette didn't used to be such a worrier. But one day she and her friends were playing in the junkyard and Clover fell down. It looked like Clover would be impaled and die, but Mariette managed to catch her. Unfortunately she wasn't strong enough to carry Clover and only made it so they fell slower. Now Clover has a bad scar on her back, while Mariette has one on the bridge of her nose and several on her shoulders. The scars make Clover feel bad, so Mariette normally makes an effort to keep them covered.
Lately Mariette has been trying to get back with Clover, but Clover doesn't seem interested in being friends anymore. Even though Mariette thinks that education is good, she's worried because in their world scholars are targeted for all sorts of reasons. The number one being as slaves who can tell you the answers to everything. And with Clover being Clover she'll definitely get kidnapped. So Mariette has decided that since she has no choice she's going to try and get into the school as well. Mariette is too late in the season to be able to go into the sciences with Clover, so instead she's going to try and get into the section of school for physical arts. She's always been rather healthy, and in pretty good shape. She also can fight, when pushed. So Mariette is trying to get her mother to teach her how to train for fighting, which her mother does not want to do since Mariette's dad died in one of the fakey fake raids that their king likes to make up for no reason against their neighbors. But Mariette is absolutely determined to stay with Clover, and she still has two months until the fighting test so she should be fine. Those two months without Clover will be awful though.
